Hi, I presume you are in the motor trade, so I wonder if you would answer me the following.
It is regarding a radio code. I am not asking you to give me the code, as I know it is against AB policy, but I wonder if you could confirm a code I have been given (and paid for) that doesn't work. I have tried contacting the firm by email, but they are not replying.
The car is a Peugeot 206 V reg, the radio is a Clarion PU2325A and the serial number is CL0410X0002776. The code they have given me is 3344, but it does not work. If you could confirm that this is the correct code or not, I will write to them.
many thanks if you can help.
Denis

I used to work for FMC. Not now .. but I remember a lot : )
That should be correct according to my info too. Codes were calculated from the last 4 numbers of the serial. I came up with the same.
I think you will have to resort to other means .. or if (and there IS a possibility that a radio will NOT take a code) no good, replace the unit from eBay or elsewhere.
Sorry can't be of more help : )

Hi Denis
Just managed to catch this post while looking for something else....
Firstly, the code you have been provided is 100% wrong, for the serial number you have provided. It has been given to you by a scammer who has used software to calculate this code... and who doesn't know how to use the software, or to what the software applies to.
Best advice is for you to take radio to a radio decoder, who will extract the correct code from the security eeprom chip. That's the 100% reliable method, and takes about 15 minutes max..
The Peugeot dealership can supply codes from serial number for your radio, but be careful, they often do it from the VIN number, which would only apply if you're sure its the original radio fitted to the car since new.

Yes of course... Your radio is 'time locked'. This happens when an incorrect code is entered. The time required to reset becomes longer, the more incorrect codes you entered.... say 10 mins, 20 mins, 30 mins, 1hr and so on.............. in respect of each incorrect code entry.
How to reset:- Turn your ignition key to the 'accessory position'... that's when the battery light is showing on the dash, and power on the radio. Leave the radio undisturbed without touching any buttons... The display will change, allowing for another code to be entered.
Code entry: is easy on the Clarion, just like entering the telephone number..using the presets.
Best of Luck

Well ... Ford code by the radio .. not the VIN.
The radios are fitted from the rack in production, and the manufacturer's tag used to unlock them.
The radios are pre-coded in the radio factory.
You think they have time to code the radio on the car production line? Nope.
It's either locked or re-coded as stated previously.

@AlBags
Many motor manufacturers record the radio code for the new car in respect of it's VIN number.
You're correct to point out that Ford don't do this, but we're talking Peugeot/Clarion here.
Other examples of motor manufacturers doing this as well as Peugeot is Mercedes and Vauxhall. I know this because I've had many customers of those motor manufacturers who have been supplied a code for their radio from the dealership, and it has been wrong. It has been wrong because it has been the code for the original radio fitted to the car when new, based on VIN number. That doesn't take account of radios either being fitted or upgraded since new.
I'm hoping Denis has obtained a code from a reputable source who has the correct Clarion serial number database. If the code doesn't work, and locks the radio permanently... that doesn't matter for the professional radio decoder. He'll just read and reset eeprom 93c46.
