loading rstricted double yellow lines

my wife came home from the vets with a parking ticket.It says she was on double yellows with loading restrictions. fair ticket? well the double yellow lines have bit missing ie a 2ft piece on 1 and 1ft on the other .The loading restriction doube lines are just a few spotson the road side of the kerb and not on the pavement part. any advice please.

Photograph and send in your appeal, this will be denied as they are idiots. Then send an appeal to the Parking & Traffic Appeals Service with your photos and you should win.

The broken yellow line and the missing/incomplete curb markings are both grounds for appeal.

This is going to to take 2/3 months don't be put off if/when the council denies your appeal.

no her car was parked1/2 on the end of the lines and the front was on the bit after the linescap end so front on clear area back on double lines

It'd be interesting to hear how you get on. If you win it'll be on a technicality. Maybe the hassle it involves will stop your wife pushing her luck next time.

Where there t bar style ends to the lines where the gap was?

If not then the entire length of the lines becomes unenforceable.

If the lines were unbroken and the curb markings are clear then it is a contravention, no appeal.

If the lines are clearly broken i.e end before the vertical line but not because of drainage, technicaly by law they are not valid.

If you can say that the curb markings are not clear then you have grounds.

my wife had a disability badge but cos the loading restriction lines were missing so to speak she thought she was just on them and put the badge on . if the lines were clear she wouldnt have parked there.

My understanding is that blue badge holders are permitted to park on double yellow lines (subject to certain restrictions).

Unfortunately the country is in recession at the moment and the touching up of yellow lines is not at the top of the must do list for most councils, most have not got enough money to repair the potholes left by the "harsh" winter..

Perhaps getting a ticket will make your good lady be a bit more observant in the future.

blue badge holders cannot just park where they like and this includes on double yellow lines with restrictions despite what others may think.

Was there a sign on the lamp posts? Irrelevant if the lines are broken or indistiguishable. Councils have a legal requirement to maintain thier parking restrictions legaly,

We as drivers are used as cash cows by councils, if they are going to extort us under the rules, its only fair that they abide by those same rules.

It matters not how sanctamonious or righteous you get about it, if the lady made a genuine mistake due to faded or missing markings, she has a case.

And they weren't that feint that the driver in question failed to see them, were they?
She knew they were there, she saw them AND the loading restriction - no excuse IMO.

Double yellow lines do not need time plates on the lamp posts as they are automatically "at all times"

A loading restriction might need signs, but that would depend on the presence of a CPZ or not
