A window has appeared telling me that `Harmful software detected` and to clear it my particulars ie: card number, address etc is required, which is going to cost me some $74 plus to make my computer safe. Is this a scam, as I already run Avast?

Redman, How can I get rid of the darn window? It keeps popping up again every time I delete.

Now it won`t even delete.
Have you got Malware Bytes ( free version ) installed, if you have do a full scan with that and see what it finds

I`m doing a Full Scan with Avast at present, but will try Malware if unsuccesful, and also t` other one.
You must have been warned NOT to give your details to anybody you dont know or trust.Your comp probably has nothing wrong.Forget it!!!
Doubt avast will find anything, but malwarebytes should do it.

For best results with malwarebytes is better to scan after booting the computer into safe mode

I have run Malwarebytes and hopefully done the correct thing, but now a window stating, I Quote:
BackWeb Client.
BackWeb is unable to access data directory. Either the data directory is invalid, unreadable, or there is another instance of BackWeb accessing it. Un-qoute.

What the hell is that all about? My mind boggles, why can`t they speaka de eengleesh?

Either reinstall your kodak software, or (and I'd do this one)

Click start > run and type "msconfig" into the run box, once the config window opens click on the startup tab, look down the list for "kodak software updater" and take the tick out from beside it. click ok to close everything and do a restart. When the computer starts up you'll get a warning message telling you've made changes, click the don't show this message again tick box and click ok.

I did as you said but no Kodak software updater to be seen, so I unticked Backweb and got another window pop-up telling me I shouldn`t have,so I am getting more and more totally fed up. All because of that stupid Antivirus Centre.

that is fake. and it is a virus ! but how to removal it ? please follow this:

Open the Registry Editor, navigate and delete the entries listed below:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\S
ervices\SharedAccess\Parameters\FirewallPolic
y\StandardProfile\AuthorizedApplications\List
“C:\WINDOWS\system32\rundll32.exe” = ‘C:\WINDOWS\system32\rundll32.exe:*:Enabled
:Antivirus
Center’
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\
CurrentVersion\Run
“<random numbers and characters>”

Secondly, search for files and delete them manually:

%AllUsersProfile%\Application Data\<random numbers and characters>.ico
%UserProfile%\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\Antivirus Center.lnk
%UserProfile%\Desktop\Antivirus Center.lnk
%Temp%\ins2.tmp
