How to set up Belkin dongle to connect with Kodak printer?

I have just invested in a Belkin N300 dongle on the recommendation of the shop, so I can use my new Kodak ESP7250 photo printer in a room with space for it rather than hooked up via its usb cable. It came with no instructions but when I clicked on its icon it had 'setup a network'. This is the first wireless excursion in my life, so besides seeing it found a few other people's protected networks realised from the Kodak instructions I was expected to create a brand new one for me on the SSID protocol, give it a name (my own was easiest) and then ask the printer to find it.

I now have set up and named a network with no added security (who's going to share my printer functions?), and all my printer can now do it couldn't before is also find someone else's internet signals, but stone me if it can find david h.

As I haven't got a contract with an engineer I have hit the wall. I've got this far by trial and error and can now go no further alone. Can anyone step by step walk me through the final steps or have I bought the wrong equipment to connect despite three separate assurances from the staff it was the correct item?

I can add one update, I used Windows help and it found my printer networking had been turned off by Windows and have now asked it to be added which the wizard has now done. Nothing has changed but that was clearly making it impossible otherwise so if that step has been covered it's one less to include at least.
