Convert .flv to .............. wmv?

I've downloaded a short vid from Youtube. It plays fine on Realplayer (flv Flash Video).
I need to make the file portable to any (within reason) computer running Windows.
Should I leave it as flv? ............ I've tried three convertors (from flv to wmv). VLCplayer and Freeze just don't work no matter what I do, and a third one just made Windows hang. I'm on Win7 Premium. Is that the problem?

Hiya
Any Windows computer can play .flv format so long as a flv splitter codec is installed on it. http://www.inmatrix.c...yer/formats/flv.shtml Try adding FFDShow first. This will also decode xvid, divx, etc. so WMP can play it.
If it has to be 'universal' without any additional codecs or players added, you will have to convert to a popular windows format, like wmv. Try Super converter.
Some filters/converters cannot handle specific or propriatory formats though .. it really depends how the original was converted.
