Hi, I am running Vista [hate it] and cannot delete emails from my 'recently deleted folder', except one by one. When I right click the folder I hoped to see 'empty folder' but the delete or clear button is greyed out. I have hundreds to delete. There must be a way surely. Am I missing something. Thanks for any help.
Have you tried highlighting one with your mouse, holding down the Shift button and then clicking further down the list and trying to delete them like that? Works for me in Windows Mail.
click the first email you want to delete then find the last email and press shift and click it while holding shift and you'll select all email in between the two you selected, then delete them
Or if you hold down shift you can select multiple items out of order.
Or press CTRL + A to select all items in a folder.
I have tried the above but it just opens the first email before I have had a chance to shift and highluight the last one. Thanks anyway, i can see its going to take me a month of sundays to clear it all. Ho Hum.
I sympathise. I have been trying to delete the history from a friend's computer. Unfortunately neither the SHIFT nor CTRL options seem to work, so it is a case of deleting them one by one.
I have discovered that if I delete them 1 by 1 [as I have to do] from the inbox on my laptop, then go to the desktop running XP, I can transfer them all [with control/shift] then delete in one block. slightly quicker than one by one on laptop. Oh well, it'll keep me happy for days!
