Laptop v Netbook v Tablet [technical question]

I appreciate that laptops have hard discs, fans, and other moving parts that wear out but what about netbooks and tablets? Do they have "physical" moving parts also, or are they solid state with nothing to wear out?

A quick check of popular netbook models shows that most have hard disks, so yes, they have moving mechanical parts.

... should have said, though, that some are available with solid state disk drives, but SSDs are more expensive and generally of smaller capacity.

I believe Apple do make a iPod with an SSD disk (no moving parts), but this will be more expensive.

Almost all laptops, netbooks and tablets will have a hard disk with moving parts (though in a few years who knows, maybe not)

Almost all tablets use solid state discs / flash memory. Hard discs are too large and draw too much power for the likes of Xoom's and iPads

Just to confuse matters..... My old TX1000 tablet is a 'proper 12" laptop' computer but the screen turns and flips down to make a portable tablet, touch-screen and stylus pen ability and all. It has a 180GB HDD and a DVD RW drive.

Thanks for your comments, I guess it's down to checking the technical specification before purchasing.
