Wireless Network Adapter

I am looking to buy either a desktop pc or a laptop to replace my current laptop. Where I live there is free wireless internet which I find useful from time to time and so, if I were to purchase a desktop, to continue using it I would also need a wireless network adapter to plug into a USB port.

Does anyone use one of these? Is there any particular model that you'd recommend? The prices seem to be from about £10 up to £50 - would a mid-range one be adequate for most set-ups?

Thanks in advance.

You could buy a USB wi-fi dongle or, depending on your PC expertise, an internal expansion card version. That would certainly be my preference.

I haven't dabbled with hardware for many years but a wireless card could be a possibility, so thanks for suggesting it.
I'd go for a internal wireless card personally.

USB ones invariably don't get good reception on most PC's due to being stuck down behind a metal case and because they have a much smaller antenna to start with.

A PCI card with an external aerial is about the best option IMO

That is so cheap too. Thanks ChuckFickens.
I think this one is better as it is up to 300mbps
