Advice for buying new laptop.

It is for a 20something yr old so need lots of youtube, photos vids, dvd rewriter, Fb etc . No idea about gigabytes or Rams or roms, so can someone please advise as to the best but not top notch!

How about a discounted multi-core processor Dell Inspiron? They have most stuff needed on them.
Tesco seem to list a load of 'discontinued' Dells .. Probably getting ready for winter flog-off.

Thank you all very helpful, just hope I can buy one over here in Ibiza (don't do online) I am steering clear of a Toshiba cos that was the last one I bought a Satellite Pro L40 and the keys fell off after a couple of months but the shop where I bought it in England denied responsibility and Toshiba said the onus was on the shop. I have a samsung N110 and have to say it is very good, but she wants a bigger screen. But at least now I have an idea.
