My laptop wouldn't connect to the wi-fi signal today.....disaster. Spent ages phoning IT literate friends and tried all their possible solutions. Eventually, 10 year old grandson told me that I had inadvertantly turned off the wi-fi signa,l which is on a tiny slide switch on the front of the computer!
