Creating installation CDs

Hello

Been tidying up and have found some old program installation discs. These are on 3.5" floppy. My PC has a 3.5" drive so I am thinking of copying the files to CD for the future.
For a multi-disc floppy set do I need to create a CD for each floppy or can I use 1 CD with separate folders for the files from each floppy or even can I just copy all the individual files straight on to the CD?

In all seriousness, are you really ever going to want to install any software that's so old it's on floppies! there's a fairly good chance it wouldn't even run on whatever version of windows you have now.

My copy of "if all else fails boot into MS-Dos so I can wipe the C: drive" lives on floppy (as well as CD, flash drive, DAT, minidisc, Betamax ...) you never know what might be borked in a nicely infected system :)

Actually the main one that prompted the question is MS QuickBasic 4.5, and it does run under XP.

Blimey! There's a blast from the past! I remember vividly the day I got my copy of Visual Basic for DOS and thinking I'd never need to use QuickBasic again... ;-)

I still think it one of MS's better efforts, especially the inbuilt compiler.
When I were a lad, and had a brain that worked, I wrote several utility routines that I still find some use for. I can't be bothered to recode them in anything else.

LOL! I have just checked in my software drawer and I do actually still have a copy of Microsoft QuickBasic v4.5 on three 3.25" floppes - Setup, Program & Utilities, purchased from Grey Matter in Ashburton, Devon.

Think I'll dig out my USB floppy drive and see if it'll install on 64-bit Windows 7... ;-)

Even funnier, I still have a copy of a DOS-based logon system I wrote for Coopers & Lybrand back in the day. It's been many years since they cancelled the support contract, though, so I'm guessing they're not still using it... :-)
