COMPUTER SCREEN PROBLEM

Just started....Came on dull and flickering for a few minutes then it went OK....Next time I started up screen stayed black. If I switched screen off then . on it came on for about a second then went off again. Had to switch off at plug..Next time worked ok so adjusted brightness and checked all connections. It's a modern flat screen about 5 years old.....Anyone have any ideas? Thanks, Johnt

At a guess, the fluorescent backlight of the screen is on the way out.

Well, the cheapest and easiest option would probably be to replace the monitor.
But first you might want to double check that all your connections are good, and if possible, borrow a monitor to check that it is actually the monitor that's at fault.
