Morning all - or should I say Happy Christmas! Very pretty scenery here in Leicestershire about 3" snow last night. Did anyone else see the strange phenomenon last night - it was daylight in the night!! We noticed at 2.30am that the bedroom was so bright, its usually pitch dark as the council switch all our street lights off from 00.00 to 5.00 so it was a bit strange. On looking out of the window we were amazed to see that it was virtually daylight, we could see everything in the whole street, houses, gardens etc in clear detail. The sky was a yellowish-grey and it had stopped snowing a few hours earlier, it wasn't the moon shining as it was thick cloud. We live on a hill and look over our town and we could see all the main town lights shrouded in fog but if we had gone outside I'm sure it was light enough to read a newspaper in the street. It wasn't just the reflection of the snow I'm sure - but whatever it was, it was very eerie!!! Maybe something caused it like it does the Northern Lights?

It was still the same an hour later but I don't know if it continued to be light all night.
Reflection of the towns light off the clouds and then off the snow.
Yes I noticed it too, I went to bed quite late and when I turned off the bedroom light it was as light as day in our room. I remember looking out of the window to see what was happening and it was like daytime, how strange! I live in Worcs by the way.
Yes, same here in the West Midlands.
I think this was caused by reflected light from alien spaceships!

I am surprised nobody else saw it .......
A friend who lives in the south east mentioned similar to me today when she was up in the night at between 2 and 3 a.m. She didn't think a lot of it because she thought it reflection of the snow but did think it strange as normally she doesn't see down her road in the middle of the night because everywhere is dark. Weird isn't it.
Yes I saw it over here in the East but I assumed it was the reflction of the moon on the snow making it lighter than usual.
I saw it, but I didnt realise I had seen anything until I read this. I assumed that it was someones security light lighting up my back garden when I got up for a wee at about 3am.
