You shouldn't need to do this. Assuming your PC has a DVD player, they should just play when you insert them...

MR, I want to copy them to my external hard drive.
What would be the point in that?
Question Author
To save room in the house and then get rid of the discs.
But if you don't own the disks you don't own the rights to have the film.
Moonie, move house me dear :) x
Try dvdshrink.

Thanks finrod i will take a look, Chuck, I have bought and payed for these dvd's therefore I think I have the right to copy and store for my own personal use.
But you just said you want to get rid of the DVDs...

If you are putting them in storage then that's fine, if you are selling them then you can't expect to be able to sell something an keep it too.

Not if you're intending to get rid of them...
Chuck and Mark are right. Copies must either be destroyed or go with the originals when you sell, give, swap or donate them.
this one works great Aiseesoft Blu-Ray Ripper. Here is the full review and how-tos http://www.offpricewa...t-blu-ray-ripper.html
Perhaps people should ask before they jump in and assume these are copyright DVDs? The OP was asking a simple question, how to rip a DVD to his hard drive, not about the legality or otherwise of it.

If they are not copy protected DVDs you don't need a ripper, you can simply copy the .VOB file straight to your hard drive and play it from there.
MarkRae had already answered the question.
If there is a dvd drive in the pc, there will be the software to use it.
