What, Exactly, is the Raspberry PI?

Magnum PI's relative? :-)

It's a type of computer that helps with teaching computer science in schools.
Raspberry is a type of fruit and Pi is a number used in maths. It is just the name of the machine and doesn't stand for anything.

ah, that actually makes much more sense now.

I was reading about it this morning but I couldn't find anything that said just that simple sentence. The article I read went on about how it is just today being tested on children, so didn't for a second consider it was teaching them anything, more that they could teach us adults a thing or two and that they were just trying it out ;-)

A computer motherboard together with required interface connections for the required peripherals.
The key thing about it is the price (about £25), which will mean it is more accessible for lots of people.
I so want one of these :)
I actually want about six - networking and parallel processing ahoy :+)
