My Dell laptop display was described as a WUXGA (1920x1200) TFT Display with TrueLife™ which is Dell's way of saying anti-reflective but on a glossy screen. Confusing, eh?
Also, to confuse things even more, I believe the majority of laptops tend to come with glossy screens nowadays, it's just that descriptions are really poor, in my opinion. To me, it'd be important to know but it's just "detail" to companies a lot of the time!
As for things like LED backlit, that's just the latest LCD technology and it also makes the screens thinner.
Sorry if that's not really answered your question but I'd definitely ask whoever you're thinking of buying your laptop from to confirm whether the screen is glossy or matte, it's the only way to be sure! :)
