temp internet files

every time i try to empty my temp int files via tools options and delete files my pc freezes up and i have to use ctrl alt+del  opening task thingy to get it working again ,i remember that there is another was of doing in start run then type something in there and ok it .but i cant remember wot to type  also i used to empty temp files by doing that too , I hope someone can help me please

I'm sure you've thought of this, but have you tried leaving the PC long enough after going through tools and options - I only say this because I did the same thing the other day and was struck by how long it took to complete - something like three minutes I think, although it did sort it in the end. Has your PC definitely crashed?

I use this route. Start ->My Computer. Right click on local disk -> properties. Use the 'disk cleanup' option, next to the piechart. (I'm using XP)

i have tried this ct but when i run it states cleaning and after running  for several minutes the number to clean 35 remains the same any ideas please
