Compatible ink?

I'm looking at getting new ink cartridges for my new printer. The genuine Epson inks are about £30 for the set of four.

On Amazon I can get compatible inks for £2.85.

Anyone have any opinions on why I shouldn't get the cheap ones?

They're often not as good as the genuine article, and my HP printer tells me off if I'm not using HP cartridges.

I hate it when technology tells me off.

Fed up of the car barking at me because it wants a service/fuel/screen wash!

I have been using Epson compatible cartridges for some time with no problems. Last bought locally from Cartridge World shop which is now called something different.

I use compats as not only do they contain more ink than Epson ones, they are certainly much cheaper. If printer does "tell you off", switch it off and on again and it works ok, well it has done in mine. I have used Choice Stationery for years as they are reasonably priced and are despatched post haste so I've always been happy with them. Hope this helps.

Just changed all my Epson cartridges for compatibles off e bay and had no problem, as stated did have to switch it off and re start the printer then all was well.

I use the genuine Epson inks now because I do not do much printing and the special liquid they use to keep the ink flowing is, apparently, not available in compatibles. If it was I would use them.

When I had an Epson, I loaded a "compatible" cartridge and after three or four pages of mere text (so nothing demanding) it dried up - so it was false economy. Other people seems to have better experiences however, so good luck.

I might give the cheap ones a go, but keep an open mind.

If they are rubbish, I'm only out £2.85.

inks are expensive because they almost give the printer machines away

I do an awful lot of printing and my compats last for ages (months) - much longer than the originals did. As I say I buy mine from Choice and have done for many many years now they give excellent service but as I've not tried anywhere else I can only comment on my experience.

My particular Epson Stylus Photo model takes four colour cartridges and they cost me £7.99 for FOUR sets plus 4 extra black cartridges and FREE Post and Packaging.
