When either myself or my wife (on separate machine) logs in to hotmail, we get the following:
"Something went wrong and we can't sign you in at the moment. Please try again later."
I've cleared the browser cache in Firefox, also tried using IE8. No difference.
A web search for similar problems reveals little of use.
This happened to me a few weeks ago - same message and I was tearing my hair out. I couldn't log in either via laptop or PC. It turned out eventually to be a password change, and it sorted itself out later in the day. Apparently, I had ticked the 72 day password limit box. Could you and your wife have done the same? (This may be of no help to you, however!)
It's possible. Our account was hacked into some time ago and I had to reset the password using my phone and may have left something ticked without meaning to. That would have been guess what about 72 days ago!
When you say it sorted itself out how did you resolve it?
ichkeria
I didn't have to do anything, but just kept trying. As I recall, it was fine about 10am, then unavailable at 12.00, and it sorted itself out at about 4 - 5pm by telling me to enter a new password.
Good luck!
My laptop and PC gave the same message that ichkeria got, but the iPad just kept telling me my password was wrong. All sorted at the same time, but very, very annoying when it's the first time this happens,
