Phone Upgrade Queries

I am hoping to upgrade my phone tomorrow, I have an iPhone 3G now and probably looking to a Sony for the better camera.

I have a load of text messages and all my contacts and wondering if I will be able to get at least the contacts copied over (probably staying on contract with Orange) and if there is any way of getting my text messages on my laptop to keep any info I need (people who have sent me addresses etc...) rather than me having to go through them all and to keep any nice ones.

I am copying all my photos over onto my laptop now and have my music on it. Will I be able to upload my music via iTunes like I do with my iPhone or will I need to upload them another way if I don't get an iPhone?

Thanks for any help, trying to be prepared so I don't lose anything in my excitement in getting a new phone :)
