Converting a video

I recorded a message from my kids to my parents on my phone's video recorder. The problem is that it's an MPEG-4 file and I need to send it to my parents on dongle.

My parent's TV will take a direct feed from a dongle, but only shows MP3 or JPG files.

I've tried finding a free converter on the internet, but they just seem to convert the audio, rather than just the video.

Any ideas?

That's because MP3 is an audio only format and JPG files are pictures, not video.

What's the make and model of the TV?

Try Handbrake - its supposed to be able to convert to multiple formats.

It could be that the tv only does mp3 or pictures and won't do video. Make the video into a dvd - some players can play video files, but your best bet is to turn it into a dvd movie.

Tuvok - I've tried that program but Spybot came up with warnings when i tried to install it. Is it safe? (Don;t worry, best opinion rather than legally binding assurity required...)

That TV will play mpeg videos with the file extension of .mpg .mpeg .avi and .mpe encoded mpeg2.

Use format factory to convert it to an AVI with mpeg2 video encoding and MP3 audio and it should play.
