Under tools - options, go to the "General" tab and set your homepage as you like it (this assumes you're using FF as your browser).

Thanks, Dr b. Please bear with me, I'm not a PC buff by a long way !

I mean the homepage of my browser (Mozilla Firefox). It used to have nice pictures above the search bar that changed each day plus other info/short cuts above that, ie, 'Maps' etc. Now all I have is the AVG logo.

Should I reinstall Firefox to solve the problem or there something else I can do ? Your suggestion didn't solve it, I'm afraid.
Do you mean the toolbars in your browser? If so, go to view-toolbars and see if everything you want to see has a checkmark next to it.

Otherwise, I am not sure what you mean by homepage. That usually means the web site that opens when you start up firefox.

Yes, I mean the FF homepage. I've now got the FF default homepage but it's still not the same as before. I'm ok with dealing with toolbars.

Thanks again for your help.

Click on Start at the bottom left of your screen.
Go to My computer and click on it.
Go to add/remove or change remove programs. Can't remember if it's click or double click.
Scroll down the list and look for AVG toolbar.
Click remove to the right of it.
Click yes when it asks if you're sure.

Thanks Mojo, done that.

Now how do I get the Google homepage as my default ? I will experiment in the meantime !
Dr b's first answer on this thread tells you...

Go to tools > options and under the homepage sections type http://www.google.co.uk in and click OK.

Done it !

Googled Google (!) got their homepage, went to Tools/options/Use Current Homepage. Job done !

Thank you all.

Ooops, Sorry Chuck, didn't see your post.

Yes, I didn't realise that you could type the required address into the box.

Cheers.
