I'd recommend getting a proper personal computer instead.
I have a Dell Inspiron 1545 which I am very satisfied with.
If you want an excellent 'all round' large Laptop I don't think you will go wrong if you did as my niece has done; from advice which rojash and others gave to me in AB. Get a Lenovo like the following, which has a web-cam and, having used it myself for the past fortnight whilst my niece has been on holidays, I think it is a great machine and real value for money.:-

Thanks vivandorron, I was going mention a 17 screen but thought might be to expensive. Is it quite fast, I only use my desktop for emails, chat forums some games and shopping?
It 'boots-up' quickly and it comes with both Internet Explorer and Google Chrome; the latter being the faster Browser. So, in short, the answer to your question must be 'Yes'.

In fact, I am of the opinion that it does have everything and I am posting at the moment via it. It's a very quiet machine and the keyboard has a beautiful touch to it. I'll be sorry to see it being collected by my niece because I am enjoying using it as a change to my HP Desktop....However, whilst the keypad is great, I have connected a USB Mouse to it, as a matter of my preference.

Anything but a Toshiba.... Absolute Tosh :-)
I've always liked Toshiba laptops but have no idea how much they cost.........
lol lol Erin.................I loved my Toshiba, better than my Dell.
I've used Toshibas for years. Never had a problem with them...
A few of my mates have had Toshiba laptops and they did nothing but break =s

I have an Advent laptop which I love. I do like my dad's new Samsung one though :-) everything else we get has been Samsung recently.
I've currently got this Samsung..............wish I hadn't.

Had a Compaq from Tesco for 2 years, never had a problem with it, quality at a reasonable price

Have friends who have had endless problems with Dell
Acer, plenty in your price range. Got this one a couple of months ago...brilliant!!
I once had an Acer and it was good; until I lost it when my house was struck by Lightening. However, they are not cheap and the 15.6inch recommended by gingejbee will cost £350. Furthermore the Samsung 15.6 suggested by Mark is no doubt an excellent machine, but it's expensive at £330 in relation to a number of other makes of 17inch laptops which are available for under £400.
