I Pad
I have a 6year old computer and as my son is off to Australia I think I should treat myself to an I Pad to keep in touch. Which to get is my first trial and then does it do everything a computer does which includes printing. Maybe I should first of all buy "I Pads for Dummies" (Silver Dummies I would need. It may take me a while to get to the actual purchase as it took 6 months to get a KIndle which has been a wonder buy

What software do you intend to use to 'keep in touch'? You don't need a £400+ iPad to use Skype.
Unless you enjoy splashing out I would suggest you consider buying a new pc, desktop or laptop, for around £300 and if you really want a tablet for playing with buy one for under £200. Something like this 7"
