HELP!!!

Macafee want me to renew my subscription but at £50 i have decided against it. For the last couple of months i get this large red box coming up in the corner of my screen reminding me that my computer is unprotected and i must renew. It comes up dozens of times a day and is driving me mad I thought they would get fed up but it seems not. How (apart from renewing) can I stop it please?

It happened to me recently and i didn't want to renew at the prices they were quoting. However when i checked macafee prices on the website ( rather than clicking on the red box) they were 50% cheaper!!! To remove macafee altogether you need need to uninstall it from your computer using the control panel.

1) Download Microsoft Security Essentials: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-GB/windows/security-essentials-download

2) Uninstall McAfee

3) Install Microsoft Security Essentials

There's no need to pay for anti-malware solutions...

In addition, you should download and install the free edition of malwarebytes: http://www.malwarebytes.org/ and run it once a week or so, or whenever you think your computer might have been compromised.

Be aware when you install malwarebytes they try to get you to start a trial for the paid for version and you have to click on the decline button to install the free version.

I have NEVER paid. If you are a casual user like myself there are loads of FREE anti virus sites. Try "Avasti"
