Pictures not showing properly

Could anyone tell me how to get my photos to display properly in my libraries please? I've recently bought a new windows 8 laptop, have transferred all my pics over without any problem, or so I though, but now when I go to view them or upload to Photobucket they a showing like this

making it very difficult to know which one to choose. I had no trouble viewing them with my windows 7 so am assuming I've just got something set wrong.

At a guess, click the view tab and select thumbnails

Thanks, tried that, but doesn't seem to be an option anywhere.
