Hard drive index problem

On my c drive the first folder happens to be called 'camera'. If I open 'camera' I find that the whole of my c drive is repeated in 'camera'. If I open that 'camera' folder the whole c drive is again repeated and so on for about 15 folders deep - then I get an error message.

I assume there is a probelm with the index on my hard drive because if I add a file to a folder deep down in the nested folders that file apprears in the same folder all the way up the list.

How can I get me hard drive to reindex and clear the problem?

If you are using Windows XP try this :

I have come across this problem on older systems (Windows 3.11 eughhhh). A scandisk sorted it out eventually, though it did take a while.

Hope this helps.
