Java Problem - Please Help.

There seems to be a problem with the Java on my laptop. I have reinstalled it but it still doesn't work. I think it started since i mistakenly clicked 'block' on the little box that pops up on the bottom right hand side of the screen (my fault i know).
On the java website it can't verify my Java.
I have gone through my avg antivirus and Java doesn't seem to be blocked - it's on the list of programs allowed on the firewall list.
I have no idea what's wrong nor how to resolve it.
Any help would be much appreciated.
