Norton/progs/skype - Still Having Problems
4 Answers
Three weeks after inserting the 2013 Norton Security disk, which wouldn't load, my partners laptop is still beset with issues.
I allowed various Norton agents to remotely control her Pc in an affort to undo the "damage" that a previous Norton agent caused. He seemed to have removed important settings or progs.
We now have Norton installed ok, but every time we switch the PC on, we get a message saying Windows is configuring "TrayApp". It then says "the feature you are trying to use is on a CD-Rom or other removable disk that is not available. Insert the "Tray/App" disk. We click cancel and then the same again on several more boxes that appear, until we can eventually use the PC. We occasionally get a similar message saying "Insert the "Destinations" disk. Norton says TrayApp relates to HO Printer software, so I uninstalled this, but I am still getting the same message. After three weeks of hassle, I'm going mad with frustration. The other thing we can't do since Norton 2013 loaded is Skype. Despite being connected to the internet, Skype says we are Offline, no matter what we opt for when clicking on Skype eg Online, Invisible etc. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Skype to no avail. Help please! My partner wants to skype her brother in Sweden.

2) Norton
Not sure if I can help here, but I have a suspicion that the Norton Firewall may have blocked Skype from internet connections. Check firewall settings as regards permissions for Skype.

Thanks SlackAlice. Really helpful answer.
I am using a HP Printer, but just to be on the safe side, followed the link to remove the HP aspect from Start-Up. Did the trick. I can reload the drivers via your other link as start afresh.
Your advice regarding Norton Firewall and Skype was spot on. Everything listed said "Allow" except Skype, which said "Blocked". I changed this to "Allow" and it now works fine.
All is now well except one final thing. Whilst the "TrayApp message at Start Up has gone, the one saying "Windows Installer is configuring Destinations" and needs the Destinations disk etc is appearing. This may still be related to HP but not sure. I did a Google search and found something about doing a "Clean Boot" but was unsure how to do this properly, or if it will help/cause other issues. Any advice appreciated from any ABer.
Many thanks

I think if you re-install the drivers for your printer from the link I gave you it should resolve your problem.
