Self Correcting Script

The other day I was editing an article about views from outer space. The words 'the Earth' were being used but I wanted to change this to 'the earth'. But every time I tried to make the change the initial upper case 'E' returned. In the end I did get it changed but it involved a lot of erasing, inserting, letter spacing etc. Going back to the srticle noand it accepts the change without demur. Any explanation? And if anyone wants to criticize my desire to change Earth to earth: it's just the way I want it, that's all. Except of course that I would need to know what would be the reaction if I was merely describing a gardening activity, eg, to plant potatoes one digs up the earth, not the Earth!

What was the package that you were using to edit the text?

Sounds to me as if you have some sort of auto correction on. Try looking in the menus for a settings option, see if there is something there you can change.
