My Toshiba Satallite laptop has had a new screen fitted and for some reason I cannot alter the brightness of the screen. I have been through Control Panel and when I shift the pointer at the bottom of the screen nothing happens. Is it something to d with the new screen being fitted or has something else failed?
Hope someone can help me with this. Ruthie x
Something is obviously not connectedup during the fitting of the screen. The screen neither brightened nor dimmed when doing either of those operations. It is at full brightness and I almost need sunglasses. It will stop me using it for too long as it will strain my eyes! Thanks again for your help. Ruthiex
If you are using win 8 can you get the 'charms' to appear on the right of the screen? If you can click or tap on the cog wheel (bottom of the screen)
a menu will open up and select brightness. A little vertical slider will appear and you can drag it to alter the glare. The Toshiba screens are very bright.
Sorry for the delay ruthie, are you using windows 8? If you are then if you move the cursor to the middle right of the screen and drag it left as though you were using a touch screen (tablet) then 5 charms should appear running down the right of the screen. At least they did on the Tosh satellite I was using today. Also on mine today, the Fn button was on the bottom row of keys next to the 'windows' button. (just to the left of the space bar)
Latest update on the screen brightness. If I had paid 50% more (ie £150) than I did for this screen I could have a had the one with a chip in it which controls the brightness. I told the man that you would think that would be a basic requirement of every screen! Ruthiex
