During last 24 hrs some one has used my email address to send 12 emails to me bearing my email address in the "From" and "To" sections as if I sent to myself. Normally all emails come via my ISP's gateway (Yahoo). Each email has the same company web link - a link and company I no nothing about. These emails bypassed the gateway straight into Outlook Express. How can some one so misuse my email address and could my ISP trace the sender. Thanks guys.

It's easy to change the 'from' address in an email to anything you like. Spammers do it all the time (and it's common for them to use the same address as in the 'to field, since the recipient's spam filters will see the address as a valid one). I doubt it. Just treat them as spam.
And change your password.
It's easy to change the 'from' address in an email to anything you like. Spammers do it all the time (and it's common for them to use the same address as in the 'to field, since the recipient's spam filters will see the address as a valid one).

In the list of messages, right-click on one of the spam ones and select 'Properties'. That will show you the path that the email took but it will only reveal the IP address of the spammer (or of the proxy that they've used). Using this website will tell you ISP and country but it won't tell you who the actual sender was. (Only the ISP can identify the sender)

(You need to replace your own IP address with the one found from 'Properties', above).

To be honest, I wouldn't worry about it. Everyone gets spam; while you can reduce it, it's almost impossible to block it completely.
However you should also check that people in your address book are not also receiving the same emails with you as the apparent sender.
If this is happening you should definitely change your password.
This happpened from my husband's email address a couple of months after he sadly died. His whole address book had been sent these stupid one-liners from his account.
I found it very upsetting and managed to send emails to the ones I recognised to apologise. Some of them did not know that he had died and sent me very nice replies, so that was a plus.

I just changed his password and they stopped.

Mine had the same thing happen just last week so I've changed ny password too.
Yes just change the password. Hotmail accounts are easily hacked and this can happen from time to time. Can also send nuisance mail to your whole address book. Changing the password sorts it.
This has happened to me twice last year. Your email account has been hi-jacked.

As others have said, change your email account password immediately.
