Dell Media Direct Messed Up Labtop

My daughter has messed up her Dell Labtop and has Dell Media Direct up on the screen and finds it impossible to get back to "normal" internet working screen.
In fact the ON button does not even work.
Any help in fixing this would be appreciated.

When you say ON button are you referring to the Laptop Power-on button?

If so, try pressing and holding down the power button for approx 30 secs. That should power off the system.

Then, power it back on and check on-screen to see if a menu / message appears that offers options to either Startup Windows or Startup Dell Media Direct. If so, select the windows option.

Do you see that type of message?

Thanks Pinkyboyid, Yea its the power on off button. I will try and follow what you suggest to restart the labtop.

I pressed and held down the ON OFF button for a minute but nothing happened. The Labtop is stuck on this cursed Dell Media Direct and it just will not revert to Windows screen.

Disconnect the mains lead, remove the battery, it'll go off.

The Dell Media Direct has a chequered history can cause some unwanted issues such as this. I just hope that it will start up direct into

Removed battery, disconnected from mains, reassembled battery and still the same problem. Thanks for help, I think I will give it a rest until tomorrow and then resume this torture!

I presume you are working from a different laptop to be able to acesss these answers.
I have possible similar problem to do with Cmos chip. This works for me ...
Press F1 key.
Reset clock = click on it, gives you a link to reset date and time. Once that's done, websites are back in sync with the clock.
Or try either of these 2 for advice ...

I am working from my desktop to try and get answers to fix the Dell. Is it possible to download some sort of a recovery disc to sort out the problem. I was on to FIXYA to get a solution but still no joy.

In desperation ,I pressed the little house button AND the power button at the same time a few times and amazingly the Windows screen came up. However ,when I shut down windows and pressed the power button the same problem raised its head. I repeated the pressing of the two buttons and Windows came up. I just cannot keep up this action . If I disabled the little house button completley would I also disable the power button.
