Transferring E Mails To New Laptop

I have a new laptop which uses Windows 8 but I wish to keep using Windows Live Mail for my e mails. I have set up Windows Live mail 2011 on my new laptop as on my old one, the settings and account are exactly the same on both but e mails sent to me are only received on the old laptop. How do I amend the e mail account so that all e mails are received on Windows Live mail on my new laptop? Any help would be gratefully received

Are you trying to transfer your old email to your new laptop, or are you setting up your new laptop to pick up new emails?

Both, I want my new laptop to pick up new e mails but also want all those already saved in folders to transfer over as well. Any idea how this can be done?

I haven't got livemail on his computer but there should be an Export option, this will save a file which you can then Import onto you new one.

The default for most action for most e-mail clients when download e-mails is to send a request to the server to delete them.
This means that if you collect the e-mails on one machine, they won't be available for download on the other.

You can change this default behaviour by going into the account settings and checking the box "leave a copy on the server" or words to that effect.

There is usually also an option to say how long the copy should remain there before being deleted (if you never delete download e-mails, eventually your mailbox will fill up).

Ideally you'll set this period to be long enough to collect e-mails on bothe machines (say, 3 days), but short enough that your mailbox doesn't exceed its quota.

We have already tried that and it didn't work. Does anyone have any other ideas

My method ensures that you can pick up new e-mails on both machines.
