such as TOWIE or MiC - i just don't understand them - are the people acting? are they told to go out with ech other? i just don't get how they work

The peoples lives are real and not scripted but they are put into certain situations.

They call it structured reality TV - the people in it use their own names but the scene that are filmed have basic scripts and the situations are set up to allow the characters to play-up to each other. They aren't reality programs / documentaries they are just rather silly soap-operas

As a fan of Laguna Beach, the original 'towie', I was disappointed to discover it's all a load of codswallop!
I went through Laguna Beach, The Hills, The City, TOWIE, MIC, Geordie Shore and The Valleys... and then found this out.

Basically, the people you see are 'real' - in as much as they are living and breathing, but that's about it.

I think the relationships are 'real' in as much that the couple are not told to get together by the producers but will do so of their own accord in the hope of securing a bit of the spotlight.

But the producers do tell them where to go and what conversations to have. Occasionally when one of them gets too big for his boots and quits the show you'll see them saying it was all a load of BS. Then they go crawling back once they realise nobody else is interested in them.

Is bargain hunt scripted as well .Is it set up .One of the experts on the show spotted a small item about 3 miles away and lifted it and knew all about it. Is anything for real on tv . Seee orville and dean are leaving dancing on ice .Ice will never be the same again

yet another so called program that sums up how low broadcast entertainment has fallen.
