Outloo Again!
That's it! I've had enough.
I've had my hotmail account ever since I've had a computer and never had a problem with it. This Outlook is a bag of poo and I'm going to swap to google.
My problem is I've never changed before and know little about what's involved.
Can anyone give me any tips on how to keep my address book etc. My hotmail address is registered with Amazon etc. What do I need to do?

However the hard work is going round all the various web sites you are registered with and updating or changing them.
On many web sites it is a case of logging on, going into your "user profile" and changing your email address.
DONT delete your Hotmail account as you will still get email for weeks or months from "obscure" web sites.
But if you change your email details for places like Amazon etc then gradually the emails on Hotmail will stop.
But the whole process can take many months (depending how many web sites you are registered with).

Despite what has been said by GRUMPY, I wouldn't recommend Incredimail. Much has been published over the years about the service being very invasive and once it's established in a computer it is very difficult to completely remove it.
Your problem will be finding a free E/mail service which will allow you to retain your present address.

1. Create a new email address with gmail
2. Create a forward filter for everything coming into the Outlook.com address
3. Set up an alias in Google under the "send mail as" option under "accounts" here: https:/ /mail.g oogle.c om/mail /#setti ngs/acc ounts
4. Make this your default.
Now you can continue using your default email address through GoogleMail

What Ed says.
Like many others, i have several email addresses. I use GMail as the receptacle, forwarding mail from all my sites to GMail. Works pretty well for me.
Other email site/client I make use of occasionally is GMX ( www.gmx.com), simply because they offer free email addresses, and it gives you a very compact email address :)

Sorry Ed - There have been a few threads about Outlook over the last month or two so I assumed people would know what I was referring to.
When first logging on it hangs, sometimes for a few minutes before anything comes on screen, other times it never comes on so I have to quit and try again later.
Everything else about it is deadly slow as well. It used to be intermittent but now it's all the time. Rant over.

hmmmm ... I had the same problem with a slow response on Outlook, so this morning I moved most of the emails from my inbox to a new folder I created. This evening the response is fine, but I don't know if that's because I cut the size of my inbox or because Microsoft have done something to improve Outlook.
Once again, this morning Outlook for me is dead. Took 3 minutes to actually load and then hangs when I try to view emails with those annoying little dots running across the top of the screen as if I were trying to download the Encyclopedia Britannica instead of a reciept from paypal.
I already have a little used gmail account and have been on there and set it up so all my emails are dowloaded to Gmail and I can also use it to send mail through my hotmail account.
Seems like the best of both worlds.
