Windows Xp
I expect this has been raised before and I apologise for taking more of your time, but what is the simplest - and I emphasise simplest - solution to Windows giving up on XP in about a months time? Searching around on the internet seems to make a huge issue of it with so many references it's difficult to know how and where where to start. Some even suggest getting a new computer. Isn't it possible to simply download a more up to date version of Windows? If I do so then what happens to the existing XP? I do a lot of shopping on line and it's important to me to get it right. How are other ABers dealing with this please and what provider do you use if not Windows?

I still use XP offline for all the things you can do with it (that i am used to doing with it) As mentioned some old favourites do not run on the new systems. And files and data are easily transfered via memory sticks etc.
I have one PC for everything online and 2 other systems for other things i like to do. After all there is only so much memory. And if my online PC becomes corrupted i dont lose all the data. And reset via a hard disc manager is easy enough.

I started with a laptop with XP, then bought a PC with Windows 7 and updated quite happily to W8 and then W8.1 on the first day of release of each.

It would seem that outlook express is doomed though. I guess I'm the proverbial dog that hates learning new tricks. Autres temps, autres moeurs. sighs!
