I need to disable my AVG on Windows 8 while I do a System Restore, and then put it back on again.
Does anyone know how to do this please?

/// As long as your restore date is a date when your AVG was installed, your PC will -install your AVG with the restore. ///
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you Andy, but I don't quite understand what you are getting at.
I wasn't showing concern about AVG being installed after a system restore, but asking does one have to disable AVG before a system restore takes place?
i ask this because I can never seem to operate a system restore exercise, because no matter what date i select it always says "unable to system restore to this date", or words to that effect.

AOG - apologies for the confusion.
Yes, you need to disable your AVG in order for a System Restore to take place.
In my case, because I couldn't disable my AVG successfully, I un-installed it - but when the PC restored, the AVG was picked up and restored because it was on the PC before the restore datw, so it got picked up with everything else.
If you are able to disable your AVG, then it sould be a simple matter of disabling, restoring, and then re-enabling again.
Apologies for any confusion - we (ahem!) senior gentlemen don't always handle technology with the skill of younger users - although you do seem to have the edge on me! LOL!
Best,
A.
