New Firefox Bookmarks Problem

the latest firefox has no import / export link in the bookmarks tag.
I've trawl through the web sites looking how do do this and all it gives me is how to do it in previous edition which i know about

From 'Bookmarks' on the menu bar you should see 'Show all bookmarks'. (If you don't you probably simply need to scroll up to the top of the bookmarks list). Click on that, then on 'Import & Backup'.

If that's not working, tell us where it's going wrong, please.

i just get bookmarks tool bar/bookmarks menu,nothing else when i click on these except more bookmarks opening i need to import some from previous chrome which i didnt like

You're looking down the side. You should be looking across the top. (There should be a line with 'Organize', 'Views', 'Import and Backup')

You might want to have a play with Classic Theme Restorer https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/classicthemerestorer/

Mozbackup http://www.mozbackup.de/index.html provides a simply way of backing up/restoring Firefox for trying things out (but it's quite simply to do oneself when you know the location of the profile folders).
