Settings Query For Windows 8.1

For some reason each time I drag my finger across the touch pad my screen changes view - it's driving me insane! I did work out how to stop this a while back but I can't remember how - I know I disabled a tick box saying something like 'switch views when pad dragged'. Am happy to admit my computer is brighter than me but it's so irritating when for no apparent reason things change. Many thanks and am going to be in and out so may not acknowledge any replies immediately but will get back at some stage.
