Free Avg

I have always used free AVG as my anti virus program. I notice it is now outdated so I want to update it (but still keep the free version) When I try to update it, it won't do it and comes up with "AVG General Error" I have also downloaded the wrong version in the past as a 30 day free trial version, which I don't want. There seems to be so many links to AVG when you google it, I am confused which is the permanent free version, could some kind ABer please provide me with the proper link? Many thanks in advance!

Maybe you'd be better uninstalling the existing and installing the latest from new ?

but check first if your comp is 64bit and not 32bit
if its 32 look for the 32bit version of this prog
