Yesterday evening my computer wouldn't respond normally to anything, except to repeatedly show me a page saying I needed a Wi Fi connection and inviting me to sign up for BT Wi Fi. (I am with EE formerly Orange.) My router which normally shows four green lights showed only three. By some miracle it is back to normal today. Can anyone suggest why this happened and are other affected likewise?

it could have been a fault on your exchange, fault with your provider etc.

Take a look at your router - there will be symbols related to the lights. One of these will indicate that wifi is turned on, another will indicate the broadband is connected, one will be the power light - the other may be the ethernet or if its a BT Homehub 2 it may be the optional hub phone.

Thanks Tuvok. It seems there could have been several causes. Thankfully it corrected itself. I envy you your knowledge of these things.
Might have been a fault at EE my connection has been running slow for a couple of days which it doesn't usually do. You can goggle the site for EE to see their status, I have the link somewhere on PC but I'm not on that ATM sorry.
