I had an e mail today from above asking me to change my password, I have ignored it, I don't bother much with e bay anymore, but am I right thinking this is a scam ?

I've reset mine already but logged on to do it so as to be as sure as I could be that I was actually connected to their site.
It doesn't take long (by their standards) and it's a one-off.

Ebay recently have asked all of it's users to change their passwords due to a breach of security. If an email comes into your email account asking you to change your password - ignore it. If however, you log into the ebay website itself and you have a message from ebay in your ebay messages inbox - then yes, change your password.
Unless you are actually signed in to ebay itself, ignore any messages that come through.
