Photographs like these sort of make me think that despite all the horrendous trials and tribulations that we humans inflict upon ourselves over the course of history nothing really changes.

Absolutely brilliant. I always think the image of the chap in the specs walking from the landing craft is so poignant as, he appears to be one of the older chaps drafted in to boost the numbers of those needed for the job.

I also took an interest in that photo in the respect that I didn't think that men who wore glasses would be assigned to the "front line". He appears to be just going for a casual jog doesn't he?
