Images Won't Open

I have a Sony Vaio laptop running Windows 7.
Just recently when I am on eBay and I try to view the small additional images of the products that sellers show in their offers I find that none of them will open up.
What programme changes might have occurred that would have brought this about?
I would appreciate any suggestions from knowledgeable members.

The problem of images not showing is usually associated with a particular browser that you're using (particular with Internet Explorer, which has had that problem showing up every so often since the earliest versions). So try updating your browser (if there's an update available) or using a different browser.

I'm afraid that it goes deeper as the same thing is happening using Chrome.

A bit of a long shot . . . but have you checked that Javais running on your computer? (It's possible that eBay uses it to display certain images):

I did as you suggested Buenchico and although I have Java I did a fresh install. No change I'm afraid.
Any other ideas?
