What Is Red Cross On Taskbar Network Icon

I have requested advice earlier regarding my problems with firefox apparently it is using all my CPU and I am in the process of replacing my PC's 'box' However in the meantime a red cross appeared over my network icon on the taskbar. On the occasions it disconnected it turned yellow but it is still connected now and diagnostics does not come with anything. Would be grateful for explanation and if a problem a resolution many thanks

I would say it meant disconnect, but you say it isn't.

Are you sure you don't have 2 network ports with one you aren't using ?

It means there's no cable plugged in the port. If it is a yellow mark, it says the line is connected to the router but the network does not go through and this can be caused by ISP issue.
