Sky Broadband Connecting To Lenovo Tablet
5 Answers
Having purchased a Lenovo tablet, I am having problems with sky broadband connection from my computer despite many attempts with the cable supplied. The router I have is approx. 10 years old but I am informed it has a wi-fi connection. Is it possible the router is too old and I may have to purchase a fresh router? Any advice here appreciated.

I have never come across any tablet which has an ethernet port (which is what you need to connect to a router via a cable), although there is an ethernet adapter on the market that plugs into a USB port.
Further, while it's possible to have an ethernet-only router (and a few did appear on the market) I've never actually encountered any router which doesn't offer wireless connectivity.
So I'd expect your tablet and your router to be able to communicate perfectly well wirelessly.
Have you gone into your tablet's wi-fi settings to look for available connections? Does your Sky router show up there? If so, do you know the password to access your router wirelessly? Have you tried using it?
As Methyl says, it might help to know the make and model of your router.

My Samsung Galaxy 7 inch Tablet connects to my BT router by wifi. I can't think that any tablet would need a cable to connect. The main disadvantage about Tablets for me is the almost complete lack of ports on them. Most things are done wirelessly these days.
When you ask the Lenovo to look for wifi connections, does it find your Router ? If it does, then perhaps its the Routers fault for not allowing it to connect with the Lenovo. Can you connect with any other Router ? Try it with a friends or relatives Router, and see what happens. You might also try somewhere like McDonalds. to see if connects OK there.
