Memtest86 With Ubuntu 14.04/win Xp Suddenly Stops
_Hello. I have a HP Compaq 6710b Notebook on which I have dual OS of Ubuntu 14.04/Win XP SP3. Rarely use the latter, as I am in the throes of learning the ropes with Ubuntu. (By virtue of it being so long available and supported, Win XP had become a robust OS. Quite exceptional for MS. I had no desire to buy and be frustrated with yet another MS OS to get used to - and the inevitable 'improvements'.) But the Notebook has been wheezing away lately. So, I started the Memtest86 from the boot-menu. But with barely 10% of RAM checked, the screen went black and the Notebook switched off. Is there another means of checking the RAM? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
