Can You Buy A Wifi Printer
that only need black ink cartridges?
I am appalled at the price of colour cartridges and I don't do anything in colour now that I have finished work. Actually, when I was at worked I used the printers at work.

Most printers are designed so that when one or more of the color cartridges are used up (even when not being used, the ink will eventually evaporate), they will not print even when just using black. For about 3 years now, I've been buying replacement cartridges from "Cartridge World" for half the price of Canon's. I think you have them in the UK.

There's probably not enough demand for any manufacturer to produce a mono inkjet printer. However a wi-fi laser printer might well meet your needs. e.g:

Printers that use separate cartridges for each colour usually work out far cheaper to run than those which use a single cartridge for all colours. My (excellent) Canon Pixma MG5350 uses 5 cartridges but 4 complete sets of 5 (compatible) cartridges only cost me £20, so that's just £1 per cartridge. I don't call that 'expensive'!

>>>Seems a bit daft to buy another one
You can configure any colour printer (including your current one) to print everything in mono only.
e.g. if I want a B&W copy of this web page I just need to go to File > Print (or via Ctrl P) and then click on Properties. There's an option there for 'Grayscale printing' (horrid US spelling!) and a further one for 'Always print using these settings'. Your printer driver might display something slightly different but there should definitely be a 'monochrome', B&W' or 'grayscale' option available to you.

Try looking for "compatible" cartridges, instead of the original ones.
We have an Epson printer and I'd hate to think how much an original set of Epson cartridges costs. A set of 6 compatible colour cartridges costs £4.99 from Ebay:

>>>Alas, there is not one in Bedford
That's certainly what the store locator on their website says but, oddly, Google says that they're at 7-9 Greyfriars. (01234 268866).
Otherwise, try Cartridge Depot:
