Help (Again).. I Seem To Have Lost My Favourites Bar
37 Answers
The bar that runs across the top of the page, showing the regular websites I use has disappeared. On Mozilla firefox. Firefox has been running slow for weeks now and I had to force close it down. It was still running in the background and getting late, unable to use it at all I decided to stop whatever it was by using taskmanager. Now I've lost the favourites bar and it's still slowing up.

Right-click at the top of your screen and put a tick next to 'Bookmarks Toolbar'.
To try to sort out the more general problems:
Go to Tools > Add-ons > Extensions and note down the names of any extensions that you've got (such as Adblock Plus) and wish to retain; that's because you're about to remove them!
Then go to Help > Troubleshooting Information and click on Refresh Firefox. (That takes Firefox back to its original state, removing your extensions but retaining things like your bookmarks).
Then go to Tools > Add-ons > Extensions again and reinstall the extensions that you want back.

I right clicked above the place where the tool bar should be and the box appeared to say 'Exit full Screen' I clicked on that and the toolbar came back. Success!
I'm finding Firefox really slow a lot of plug-ins failing. I'm not sure which other browser to use now. Have Windows7 but Windows does not support Bt Mail
and one or two other sites I've used.

Which means that you must have accidentally knocked the F11 button; that's the one that toggles 'Full Screen' on and off.

Using 'Refresh Firefox' (as above) usually fixes such problems; that's why I suggested it!

^^^That sounds like you downloaded Chrome from somewhere that had some malware attached. Running the free version of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware should get rid of it:
https:/ /www.ma lwareby tes.org /antima lware/
(NB: When installing it, take care to deselect the pre-ticked option to take a free trial of the Premium version).
However:
(a) I can't get on with Chrome anyway ; and
(b) it should be possible to get Firefox working properly, as above.

I'm not sure exactly what it is that you're looking for. Facebook doesn't automatically add anything to a Firefox toolbar; you need to add an extension.
So, firstly, go to Tools > Add-ons > Extensions to see if a relevant extension has become disabled. (if so, click the 'Enable' button).
If that doesn't help, decide whether you just want a quick access button
https:/ /addons .mozill a.org/E n-us/fi refox/a ddon/fa cebook- toolbar -button /
or an entire Facebook toolbar
http:// faceboo k-toolb ar.en.s oftonic .com/
and install the appropriate one.

Thanks Chris I've reset the firefox, hopefully it won't crash so often. the menu bar looks odd it's perched on the left at the top of the tab and squashes the page down a bit, can't remember seeing it there before. I wasn't re directed back to the add-ons when firefox refreshed, so can I presume they are still as before?

If Firefox has refreshed properly, they WON'T be there any more. To reinstall an extension you want back, go to Tools > Extensions > Add-ons again and use the search facility, at the top right to find (and then download) the relevant extension.

I like having it there but, if you'd rather not see it, simply right-click at the top of the page again, to remove the relevant tick.

I'll have to find it again to check the add ons. Almost immediately when I got back to normal use, the programme stopped working, the Notice was "Shockwave may be busy or stopped responding", happens quite a lot now I hoped it might have sorted that out.
I might try Google Chrome again from your advice earlier. Thanks Chris.
